Carbon is the integral part of our life. It is the sixth-most abundant element in the Earth. Carbon exist in many forms. Carbon forms the backbone of DNA, floats through the air and water as carbon dioxide, and lays quietly for millions of years as underground fossil fuels and deposition of limestone & dolomite. The major Carbon sinks are as follows:
1. Organic molecules in living and dead organism of biosphere
2. carbon di oxide in atmosphere
3. soli/underground
4. lithosphere: Fossil fuel, sedimentary rock deposition (eg. dolomite, chalk, limestone)
5. Ocean: photosynthesis in phytoplankton and calcium carbonate shells
